On Sunday at the Mint Oval the Juggernauts Cricket Club took to the field brimming with confidence after two consecutive wins before Christmas. Once again the Juggernauts had some new faces with Steven Herbert making his debut for the red and black. The Juggernauts once again fell victim to the two headed coin as they lost the toss and had to field first. Opportunities for wickets were flying around all over the place and the money tin was being filled constantly due to some dropped catches. Fortunately these catches did not cost the Juggernauts nearly as much as the Pakistanis as they restricted the opposition to a reasonable 127. Almost everyone who got the opportunity to bowl took a wicket which was a good sign coming into the batting. Daniel Brooker and Steven Herbert took the attack to the opposition early before 3 quick wickets fell. Herbert was ropeable when he was adjudged run out even though he felt he was in. Mannie Wahab and Ray Kellet were quick to follow before a small stand between Brooker and John Redwood was ended in the most controversial of circumstances. Brooker was given out LBW (by acting umpire Steven Herbert) when he had cover drived the ball into his pad for 33. The Juggers skipper has never been a fan of the TV review system untill now and I'm sure, if it was in place for Sunday Social Cricket, he would have been making that infamous "T" sign and probably still be batting. After the skipper's departure the Juggers were reeling at 4-44. Redwood was the next to go and this brought man of the match Paul Kilpatrick to the crease. Kilaptrick combined with Aaron Munchow's look-a-like Blake Conlon to get the total within reach before Conlon was dismissed for a well made 23. Kilpatrick continued on and hit some mammoth boundaries to steer the Juggernauts home with two wickets in hand. The Juggernauts are now 3 win and 2 losses and are looking good to make the finals in their debut season in the Sunday Social Competition.
